Although Barb has always loved art, it really blossomed into something when she entered college. When given the choice between a fine arts degree or art education, Barb chose art education because it gave her more exposure to various types of art. She wanted to learn it all! Her favorite? Carving marble! She never intended to teach in the school system but has enjoyed teaching in various stores across the Atlanta area for over twenty years.
Barb has made her living as an artist since her twenties (she says that was a loooong time ago!). She had a clothing and jewelry line for 11 years, called Wearable Watercolors, which she sold wholesale and via art shows up and down the east coast. At the shows, she was honored to receive several best in show and first place awards for her goods. In 1996, when her precious daughter arrived, Barb chose to stop traveling and began her next business – a faux finish and mural business. She did this for the next 12 years around Atlanta and surrounding states. Since then, she teaches when possible, is developing some jewelry lines in polymer clay and water-colored leather, “painting” landscapes in wool with needle felting and working as a photographer.
Barb just moved to Florida and is so excited to join the Gilded Matilda’s family . She is looking forward to teaching and meeting other artists too!
